Do I need cisco videoguard monitor? I'm not updating to Catalina until I find out if the cisco app is really essential.

Have a look at this post - it looks like it comes bundled if you install Sky Go?

I have never had this software installed on my machine and I can access YouTube, Netflix, amazon fine.
thanks.
I'm looking into this as well. As far as I can tell, it's not associated with any app that I have on my computer, yet it was somehow installed. I don't even know what Sky Go is, but that's the most common app people mention in relation to the cisco app. I did find the pathway to removing it though. If you go to your apple menu, About this Mac/System Report/Legacy Software. It will show all the 32 bit apps that may be incompatible and where to find them on your computer. I think I'm going to move it to a random folder to see if it affects anything. If I am able to, that is. Will let you know...
Welp, the 'path' listed in the system report does not exist on my computer. For some reason I do not have a Library folder in my user folder, which seems strange. Anyway, here was the path I was supposed to follow.

Only you will be able to answer that question. That software is used to encrypt broadcasting signals and is made by Cisco.
see if they have a 64bit option available to download.
So, does this apply to things like streaming PBS content, or is it related more to youtube or videos people send me?
If you want to get into your user library (usually known as ~Library) then in Finder, click on Go with the alt key held down and Library will appear
yay, that worked! Wonder why it doesn't show up when I go to my user folder? But, I guess it doesn't matter. The Cisco folder is there! ;)
Also, there is an Uninstall feature, which the other thread said they couldn't find. :)
It doesn't show automatically because you are discouraged from rummaging about in there, but not forbidden!
