ipad in use by another user

I upgraded to Catalina, and ever since I've been having a weird notification show up: "This iPad is in use by another user on this Mac." I don't have one currently connected, yet this message keeps appearing. And appearing. Last time, I had to dismiss over 100 of these notifications.

It's kinda annoying.

Any ideas what the heck is going on?

iMac 27" 5K, macOS 10.15

What does "connected to my FaceTime" mean exactly?

I was receiving a FaceTime call from an iPhone that had never called me before. Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
My Apple ID may have been compromised, as it appeared I was making a FaceTime call from a different iPhone. If you think your Apple ID has been compromised - Apple Support

There are no iPads connected there. I only see my two old AppleTVs.

I do have multiple users on the computer, so that at least makes sense. But since I posted this an hour or so ago, another 15 have appeared. I have no iPads connected (that Finder shows) on either of the two user accounts.

Check the AirPlay menulet on your Menu Bar.

Disconnect an iPad there.

I don't know the cause, but I received a message after the upgrade that claimed a new iPhone had connected to my FaceTime. This may be a related problem, so I will follow you for possible solutions.
