So I have Apple TV+ on my iPad and phone playing perfectly. Go to my second generation Apple TV and have nothing. Can’t even stream the Apple TV+ content from either device to the tv?
is the second generation not compatible? Model mc572b/a
tried a full reset and all software is up to date.

That is incorrect Apple TV + is available on 3rd, 4th and 5th (4K) generation Apple TVs. Those with Generation 2's and earlier would need to upgrade to a new Apple TV. However you may have a newer Smart TV that supports Apple TV+, something to also look into. For example my 2018 QLED Samsung has it available but I don' t use that as I have an Apple TV 4K as well as 3 AppleTV 3's.

Got it to work but it is embarrassing. I tried mirroring Apple TV+ from my new MacBook Pro using Safari but all I got was audio and no video. So here is the sad embarrassing part: I tried it on my CHROME (yes Google) browser and voila I am watching it perfectly. Just go to tv.apple.com and mirror from there. I also have the Gen 2 Apple TV and a very old Samsung TV. None of which are 4k or HD or anything fancy. I just want to watch the shows, even if it is in a slightly lower resolution.

If you want Apple TV+ on an Apple TV, yes that is correct you need to upgrade. The Apple TV2s simply do not have the hardware.
So I’d imagine that when trying to Mirror Apple TV+ (from iPhone/iPad etc.) to an TV (2nd Gen), the content is being mirrored at a higher rate than 720p, which is why the TV (2nd Gen) can’t deal with it....
...still, it’s a bit unkind...

I get the error message: “There’s a problem loading this content” when mirroring from the iPhone and “This video is in a format that can’t be streamed to this TV” from the iMac.
I’ve done the usual restart/reset Apple TV and iPhone thinking it might be a glitch but I still get the same error messages.
Wow, totally disappointing that you can’t even mirror it from an iPhone, iPad etc to an older gen Apple TV.
(I’ve also not seen this issue with mirroring any other type of video content from a phone etc to the 2nd gen Apple TV).
It will definitely be a deal breaker for me come the end of the free trial.
obviously the case but you should still be able to stream it! I’ve just spent £1100 on an 11 pro. So I have to spend another £200 even though there is nothing wrong with my 2nd gen Apple TV 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
So I’ve figured out a work around. I also have an amazon fire stick and have downloaded Apple TV onto that. Signed in and can now watch all apple+ content. It seems a little backward that I have to go through a 3rd party to be able to watch when I have every apple product but only one of them is classed as old generation🤷🏻♂️
Apple TV+ is available ONLY on fourth generation TV and fifth generation (4K) TV hardware. Older models do not support it.
Same problem. Also no app on the Xbox, no app on a 12 month old Panasonic smart TV.
It’s like the powers that be really do not want to watch this. I refuse to watch TV on an iPhone/pad
