What is this new Airplay icon in the iPhone when I'm playing music on my HomePod? When I select it, it just plays through the phone...

Have you got any other AirPlay compatible speakers? That symbol looks like it should represent one that your iPhone is detecting. Perhaps playback reverts to the phone because it doesn't have permission to use the device.

It must mean it’s turned on and you tapping it, turns it off?

Did that. The icon is still there. It only appears while playing through the HonePod. And yes, selecting it just makes it play through the phone again. Weird.
Are you on 13.2.1- the most recent HomePod fw?
No. I only have a HomePod. And that icon only appears while I am connected to the HomePod.
It doesn’t even look like an airplay icon. Have never seen it on mine.

Close ALL Apps so you can isolate what else it might be.
I think it may be a generic icon for non-Apple AirPlay speakers. I found other examples in an image search.
