They do not currently have support for this game pad.
Please go to https://www.apple.com/feedback/
and place feedback on the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and MacBook links and suggest adding support with valid reasons why it would be beneficial to Apple Arcade. let’s make it happen!

It works on a Huawei media pad running Android (£150) but not on the my iPad over £1000 what he he’ll is going on it is endorsed by Microsoft and the Apple web site says
“Connect your wireless controller to play supported games from Apple Arcade or the App Store, navigate your Apple TV, and more.”
I have dont all the firmware updates and still no joy
supported Xbox controller
this is from apple’s support page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210414#mac
The elite model number is 1797, not 1708. This is Apple saying we’re not trying to make the elite series 2 work in current iOS’.
The fact it has some functionally is a happy accident IMO. At least the two devices speak to each other albeit not in the same language.
Also MS website is very misleading when they say Apple supports their new controller, which is clearly not true: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-one-wireless-controller-differences-on-windows-operating-systems
Apple aren't listening here. Assume there are no short term plans to support anything other than the following:
tt2
From Connect a wireless game controller to your Apple device - Apple Support:
Starting with iOS 13, iPadOS 13, tvOS 13, and macOS Catalina, Apple devices and computers support pairing with and using Xbox and PlayStation wireless game controllers.
As far as I am aware there isn't any further detail about what models are supported.

Don't forget to leave your feedback with apple, under iphone, ipad, atv... https://www.apple.com/feedback/
We have to let them know, dont really understand why with the limitations, but leaving feedback is the best we can do, the more the better.
Thanks Guys
That is what I would have thought, but when I tried pairing my New Series 2 controller to my iPad it did not appear on the other device list. Same with my iPhone XS and Apple TV. I tried with my friends XR, no luck but then I tried on my Mac and it paired no problem and same with my friends PC. I tested the controller on the PC and Mac which worked well so the controller is not faulty it just does not appear on the Bluetooth list on Apple TV, iPhone or my iPad which is strange as it is Bluetooth??
Any suggestions??
I have the same problem, seems apple may need to add it to the list of supported devices to enable it. With the Xbox One S bluetooth controllers working, I'd assume the elite series 2 will be ios eligible in the near future. If I had to guess I would assume the extra button mapping may be the issue.
I’m having the same issue. I’ve been super happy with my Xbox Elite version 1 and decided to invest on the version 2 since it had Bluetooth support, and I wish to play Apple Arcade on my apple devices (ipad, apple tv, macmini and iphone).
However I have been trying for two days now and the controller device doesn’t even show up in the Bluetooth settings in my devices other than the MacMini, and even though it connects it doesn’t work properly.
I love the new controller I think it’s a masterpiece and I hope Apple provides support for it soon so I can start enjoying it.
The Extra buttons are NOT the issue considering not all buttons from the regular controller are used on mobile games.
The issue is that the controller reads as: Xbox Elite Series 2 and not Xbox One Wireless controller.
it has to be added since every device reads it as a different type of controller.
I’m guessing it will come sooner or later. Apple Arcade games are said to be compatible with this controller. I even tried the switch control method as it was suggested to me through Reddit. It connects for a little then disconnects. I was so pumped but no dice.
I Was looking forward to having one controller for all my gaming needs, be it Xbox, PC, Apple Arcade or any game.
All I could find on controller support was that Xbox Wireless Controller with Bluetooth (Model 1708).
I paired my old Xbox controller and new elite controller to my friends android and they both came up as Xbox Wireless Controller.
I have come to the conclusion that the elite 2 controller is not compatible yet on Apple platforms 😢
I really hope they introduce support for the Elite Series 2 (Model 1797) soon as it would be a great addition to any household who loves gaming.
I wonder if I modify the name of the controller and change it to "Xbox One Wireless Controller" if that would make it work on iOS.
The problem is that it might make it not work with the Accessories app on windows for modifying the buttons… Will test and see what happens.
Found this video showing how to do it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrT7WXFEEZI
I’m sure the problem is the fact that the elite controller series 2 has a much more advanced Bluetooth setting because I’m pretty sure the controller is set properly to connect to project scarlet upon release
Because they only opened iOS up to non MFI controllers recently. This controller is a Bluetooth controller, no different from the one’s already supported in terms of connection. That’s why I find it so strange...
