How to store on mac but not in Icloud?

As the storage capacity of my Icloud is completely full I'd like to store certain files only on the harddrive of my Macbook Air which still has more than enough storage capacity and not anymore in my Icloud drive. For these files it is enough for me to keep them on my laptop without internet accessibility. However I would like to keep te two storage formats automatically connected for the majority of files as it is now, just not for the ones I chose so I can clean up some space in Icloud.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance

Move items to your Mac and remove them from iCloud Drive

  • On your Mac, drag items from iCloud drive to another folder in the Finder sidebar or on the desktop, such as Downloads, Movies, Music and Pictures.
  • The items are copied to your Mac and removed from iCloud Drive on all your devices set up for iCloud. If you change your mind, you can drag items back to iCloud Drive.
