iTunes music purchases won’t download

I have 42 songs that will not download to my iPhone. They show up under purchased and have the little cloud with the download arrow, but each time I touch the download button and it shows it is downloading I end up right back where I started......with the cloud & arrow next to the song. The songs don’t show up under albums, songs, or recent downloads. I have tried this many times, to no avail. As a side note, these songs all show up on my iPad and are downloaded completely. I obviously need help here!! Thanks

iPhone 8, iOS 13

This happened to me last week with the newest OS! Used Shazam on my phone, then clicked on iTunes to purchase like I always do. Song showed as purchased in iTunes on my phone. It never downloaded to my laptop or phone. When I searched in the iTunes store via Music.app, it showed as Purchased but didn't let me download from that screen. Even tried Checking for Available Downloads on my laptop, Viewing Purchases in iTunes, and Signing in and out on both. Nothing I did got the song on my hard drive and they don't even let you complain; the Report a Problem feature was completely useless. It said

"When you buy from iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud stores your purchase history. You can download any available eligible previously purchased content to any of your associated computers or devices from your Purchased page."

That's complete bullsh**. I've tried six ways to Sunday (see above) and I simply can't download it! Ended up getting a refund. Very angry at having spent over an hour trying to download a 99 cent song and writing this review. For the record, I can still purchase (and Download) music via Music.app on my laptop so I'm done with buying on my phone.

Thanks for getting back to me. I have plenty of storage (39.5GB available), so that’s not the problem. I just purchased another song on iTunes, through my iPhone instead of the iPad and all is good with the new song. But still can’t get the last 42 purchased songs to download. I’m at a loss here.

Hi cr180,

Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are able to download music to an iPad, but the songs do not download to the iPhone. One reason this may be is if the iPhone does not have enough storage on it. Are you able to download other thing like apps? Does this happen to every song or only a certain few?

How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Please don't hesitate to let us know if the steps resolved your issue or if you need additional assistance.

Cheers.
