Numbers: converting currency of stock quote

I can pull in a stock quote with the STOCK formula no problem. But the stock is quoted in the currency of the exchange where the stock is traded. How do I pull the stock price in and, in the same cell, convert that stock price to a different currency? Possible?

Hi Dav-o,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I see you have a question about currency exchange with the Numbers app, and I'd like to help out.

Check out this article: Add current stock quotes and currency exchange rates into your spreadsheets in Numbers

It looks like there is another formula to help. Scroll down to "Add currency exchange rates to your spreadsheet".

If you need additional assistance, I'd suggest contacting the Numbers app specialists at Apple Support.

Select Mac > Mac apps > Numbers

Take care!

=CURRENCYCONVERT is the function you want. If converting to the local currency as determined by your region settings, only one argument (value) is needed. This would be your =STOCK function. Apple Stock in Panamanian Balboas would be:

=CURRENCYCONVERT(STOCK(“AAPL”))

If converting to another currency, just add a second argument, which is the standard ISO 4217 currency code. If I want Apple stock in Canadian dollars, I would use:

=CURRENCYCONVERT(STOCK(“AAPL”),”CAD”)

Note that both the stock price and the currency exchange rate will be based on the previous day’s close.
