Panic Report - MacBook crashes without any warning

Hey guys,

anyone of you got an idea what the problem might be? Problem occurs since 2 weeks. Nothing changed on the system since then. Last updates have been a SSD and new 16GB RAM. Everything worked fine for about 3 months.

Here's the error report:

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.13

If the laptop is beeping, then it indicates a memory issue. A lot of times it can be due to an issue with the lower memory slot (the one closest to the bottom case) which can develop cracked solder joints and fail whenever there is pressure on the center of the bottom case or on the plastic base of the memory slot. You can test the laptop with just a single memory module installed in the slot nearest the keyboard. Test each module to make sure each one is Ok.

You can create a bootable Memtest86 USB drive using Etcher (Mac/Windows/Linux). Option Boot the USB drive and select the orange icon labeled "EFI". Once Memtest finishes booting it is safe to remove the USB drive. The current version 8.2 only allows to loop the test four times, but the older v7.5 can be configured for more than four loops. This test may not always detect memory issues.

Hey HWTech,

running ETRECheck said there were no mayjor issues.

Latest entry on the kernel panics was made on 4th of October but actually since 14th of October the system is having these issues. Sometimes even if the MBP is just asleep it starts "beeping" - I think 2 or 3 times in a row. After shutting down the system by holding the powerbutton for a couple of seconds sometimes this "beeping" is back while trying to start the MBP, sometimes not.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Tobi

Do you have any more recent Kernel Panics you can post? In the Console app you need to click on "/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports" or "/private/var/logs" and look for logs beginning with "kernel" and ending in ".panic". The date is embedded in the log names. The panic you posted mentions Google Chrome which could just mean it had trouble loading a particular website or maybe it could be an extension or plug-in issue.

Run EtreCheck and post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.

Invalid Queue element linkage is a problem in some of the best tested and most stable software in the kernel. In the absence of invasive Kernel extensions (you appear to have none) it is extremely likely to be a memory problem.

One issue that sometimes get glossed over is that MacBook Pro uses the processor chip's built-in memory controller, which is completely inflexible. This controller does not work properly with modules that are rated FASTER than spec. This is unusual, most computer Users are used to blithely installing faster models when available. But in these Macs, faster modules cause a pattern of crashes from a few times a week to a few times a day, with wildly different causes -- rather similar to what you are experiencing.

Three beeps is almost always a memory problem.
