iPhone SE contactless not working

Hi,

I’m not keen on upgrading so are pretty happy to have recently nabbed an iPhone SE, at budget price before they disappear completely, to replace my aged iPhone 5.

Everything is working great so far apart from contactless payment. I'm new to this but have gone through all the steps as far as I can see; confirmed the card through my bank, Touch ID, even added the card through my banking app. But it flat refuses to work at any contactless payment terminal I’ve tried.

Are there any extra settings I need to turn on to get this to work (I’m hoping there may be some kind of NFC switch hidden away. Or may it be that I’m simply too far behind the times when it comes to the hardware required? If that’s the case I can live with it, but it’s bugging me that I can’t get it to work if it is just software related.

It’s passed my mind that I may have bought a fake (it was a brown box version from eBay). If that’s the case it’s an extremely good one, but I am a bit reticent to take it to an Apple store just yet...
