Listing 32-bit and 64-bit applications via Systems Report fails

While trying to check for 32-bit and 64-bit applcations on my iMac running 10.14.6 via "System Report" "Applications", I get a message "The plug-in did not respond quickly enough while gathering this information."

Any suggestions on how to get an applications list with 32-bit and 4-bit apple listed if the system report method doesn't respond?

I'm trying to prep for Catalina.

Thank you

Although it's not an ideal solution you can also use "Legacy Software" but its database will contain applications that you may have already deleted. It won't find 32-bit processes either, but it's better than nothing.

Might anyone have any idea of why the System Information plug-in does not respond quickly enough to allow display of applications?

I'm afraid I don't know, and you already tried "Safe Mode" which would have been my suggestion. I do know it can happen from time to time though. I doubt reinstalling macOS will help.

Edit: You can use mdfind which will leverage Spotlight to find 32-bit dependent architectures. Or, simply use the Finder's Search feature (which does the same thing).

I've read your suggestion about Go64 on your other posts but I'm always hesitant to add more software to a machine that may have issues.

Although I wholeheartedly agree with concerns regarding adding unnecessary software to a Mac, Go64 occupies very little space, doesn't require an installation procedure, doesn't alter your Mac, and you can just drag it to the Trash when you're finished with it.

If you have reason to be concerned about "issues" please describe those concerns. I'm just wondering if there's more to your question.

Thank you for your confirmation about Go64. I installed and it gave me the 32-bit and 64-bit app report that I needed.

I viewed the Activity Monitor and was comfortable with CPU use, etc.

The machine is operating fine, without issues, other than the one about not compiling a 32-bit app report.

I appreciate your other suggestions on how to find 32-bit apps. They give me alternatives, which are always helpful.

Thank you.

I've read your suggestion about Go64 on your other posts but I'm always hesitant to add more software to a machine that may have issues. I'm hoping that there may be a direct Apple solution.

I've re-started and I've re-started in safe mode, to no avail.

I've opened the system information app via the utilities folder as well.

I've looked at Activity Monitor and nothing is standing out, taking up CPU time.

Can the "System Information" app be re-installed without totally re-installing the OS? In case it is corrupt or something.

Might anyone have any idea of why the System Information plug-in does not respond quickly enough to allow display of applications?
