Now that the “home” button is used for control centre, how do you force quit apps in tvOS 13?

The same way, double tap the home button to bring up the app switcher, then swipe up the app you wish to close

And ....

Put your Apple TV to sleep or wake it up

This did work but as it turns out, it is incredibly flaky. It works about 40% if the time. It might be our remote that is failing but this function is the only one I can think of that has such a high failure rate. I'm sure it is a software bug that needs to be fixed. It's the swipe up that always fails -- the swipe on the remote isn't reflected on the screen.

You can do some remote troubleshooting:

If your Apple TV remote isn't working - Apple Support

Also try restarting Apple TV Or power cycling it.
