This is a new issue. On my LG Smart TV, using Apple TV, I watch the YouTube App, but when I try to switch to another App, Netflix or Fox Sports for example, YouTube is now asking if I really want to Exit or Cancel. If I Exit, I get a black screen and have to shut off Apple TV and turn it back on to get anywhere else.
I am a YouTube subscriber, but not sure if that is making a difference.

My Apple TV remote has a button with a TV on it (top of the right column) and that button now works to exit the YouTube app. It used to be the back button to exit the app.

(This is very annoying.) Hold down the Menu button on the Apple TV remote to exit the app.
Don’t use the YouTube app much but does it block you from using the appletv+ button the one with a display as icon? I often use that if I know several back clicks would be required before I reach the root desktop

Same thing is happening to me too, it just started today. I have to unplug and plug in the Apple TV to get it working again. All other apps are working well.
‘Wonder if this is so the app can remain open in background for some reason, while other apps are in use. Can multiple apps remain open on Apple TV? I only use one at a time.
What possible good is it to add more resistance to closing the YouTube app, though? I loathe those redundant confirmations. Of course I want to close the app!

Problem is if you use a universal remote you don't have that button.
