Stutter issue (please pay attention to this issue)

Hi Guys

I don't know why Apple doesn't fix stutter issue in iPhone XS/XS Max and even Pro/Pro Max. Scrolling and animation stutter happens in all of new iPhones. It's in whole of UI like opening or closing apps animation or scrolling in lots of apps. it's intermittent issue and happens rarely, but it's very annoying me. I saw lots of videos about iOS updates in YouTube and it's good to know I could see stutter in YouTubers's iPhones too.

for some users, maybe It's hard to see stutter, because it happens rarely. but to those who can not see the stutter, please go to Setting> Privacy> Analytics & Improvement> Analytics Data and then open

a error file that has lot's of text and you can scroll it (like

JetsamEvent). for the first time, scroll the page and you see the

scrolling stutter. remember that this scrolling stutter just happen for

the first time of scrolling which got a little better as scrolled back.

I don't mean stutter just happens in Analytics Data files. It happens whole of UI, but in those file you can easily see this issue on XS/XS Max and Pro/Pro Max. I checked my iPhone 7 and even iPhone 5. they are still smooth.

Well, i have some sad news, but some happy news too!

Just went to the Apple Store, and showed this and other forums related to the Stutter problem on iPhone Xs Max, and the true is that THEY DONT CARE about it, and THEY DONT CHECK THIS THING, people here complain about lots of problem, waiting on a solution from Apple, and the truth is APPLE WILL NEVER FIX ANYTHING in iOS based in this forum

I've recorded some screens of the stutter happening, showed in the Apple Repair Center, they did LOTS of tests, did these tests about 5 times, its really annoying, but i did, and the system didnt noticed ANYTHING wrong, but the problem was there...

They've called some kind os "Specialist" in Apple products, which told me it was my 4G "data" was slow and thats was the cause of my problem. LOL

Then, they called another guy, which was very smart and a bit "nerd", we've tested some apps and he saw that my phone was with this problem, then, fastly he got a new one, and gave me to try....the new one is working perfectly, there's no stutter anymore!

I Would like to encourage you guys, go and solve your problem, this thing here wont help, Apple doesnt fix anything based in these infos here

Thanks for your help and friendship here!

We'll always be a family, the Stutter family! lol :D

I tried replicating that on my phone as you suggested. It's a long list of menu items and on my iPhone 11 Pro, it moved very smoothly, even when going at high speed through the list.

It might have something to do with available memory on your phone. Your phone uses some of its memory for data storage, just like a hard drive on a computer, and some of the memory is used more like RAM (random access memory) in that the phone uses it for "thinking"/processing data. I have a phone with a 256 Gb capacity and nearly 111 Gb available free space. If you're using more of your capacity and are close to the limit, that can slow things down a bit, I'd think. If you are close to your limit, consider freeing up some space by deleting apps you're no longer using or files you no longer access (old videos, songs, podcasts, photos, etc.).

Some people like taking a LOT of photos/videos and never delete them or move them to another device, like a computer - that's one quick way to solve a storage space issue. I actually use a WD MyCloud drive - every photo or video I shoot goes to iCloud, and from there iCloud sends it to my MyCloud drive, freeing up iCloud space, while the MyCloud drive has a LOT of storage capacity - I'm currently at 8 Tb internal storage and have nothing yet connected to the external port, so I have room to expand it still. This allows me to delete old photos I rarely if ever look at and not worry about losing them forever.

If you love watching movies or TV shows on your iPhone, that's another major storage consumer. If you've watched it, delete it (or save it elsewhere first, then delete it).

Tried brand new iPhone 11 PRO and searched throught some critical zones I know they are stuttering. The new clear iphone had exatly the same problem. It's definitely not RAM issue. Might be something with A13 bionic chip bcuz lag/freeze always happens when you are trying to reach (by scrolling) a point that isn't loaded properly.

I compared one stuttering page with android phone and the difference was in loaded background. On android when you scroll too fast you see black/gray background that turns into a picture. On iPhone you see normal pictured background but when you scroll throught that you are in problem since it's not ready. Hope you understand.

One thing is sure. If you open a page and wait till it gets fully loaded you have no problems in scrolling. There is no stuttering effect then. This makes you think if A13 bionic chip is really the fastest... Or is it slowed by iOS 13?

I think not it's not OLED display that caused this issue. I think it has something to do with Apple's 120 Hz touch-sensing technology aka touch sample rate. This technology is available for iPhone X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11, 11 Pro Max Pro. Basically what this technology does is providing better touch-responsiveness by reducing the latency in between the moment when you lay your finger on the screen and the screen react to your touch. Not to be confused with 120 Hz display refresh rate, the mentioned iPhone models are still same like the rest of the previous iPhone models with 60 Hz refresh rate displays. Currently only Razer Phone, Razer Phone 2, ROG Phone 2 and ROG Phone 3 have displays with 120 Hz refresh rate. Before that I also suspected maybe the "Tap to Wake" is causing the stutter which is a feature available for iPhone X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11, 11 Pro Max Pro as well and I tried turning that feature off to test it but the issue still persists.

I also want to make it clear that the "stutter" I'm referring here is some kind of "hiccup when doing swiping up and down, the ongoing scrolling faced some kind of "loss of touch" hiccup and then the scrolling suddenly moves up/down fast a little bit further away from where my finger stops". This is definitely not your ordinary iPhone "overheat lag" when playing graphics intensive games in a room with no air-conditioning and then the whole iPhone becomes choppy/laggy in all kinds of apps as long as your temperature didn't cool down the choppiness continues. In computer terms laggy and choopy are the same meaning but stutter is different, it's more like a hiccup. For example scrolling Facebook normally is fine but suddenly there's a hiccup makes your scrolling go overboard. The reason I explain this is because I don't want people to be confused with it in case someone doesn't know how to differentiate it.

As per Apple for the Apple Support Communities:

"Apple involvement. Apple may respond to questions but does not formally provide technical support on the Site. Any information that is provided by Apple or Apple employees is offered on an "AS IS" basis without warranties of any kind."

I suggest that you submit your suggestion/concern directly to Apple here: Product Feedback - Apple

On the other hand, if you feel that this is program coding error with Apple-provided software, then use this link:

yes, when you try to record screen, it eliminate most of stutters. it shows nothing wrong with hardware and software bugs cause this issue. I could see stutter on iOS 12 too, but iOS 13 fix some of them. unfortunately, it added some new stutters too. for example, in iOS 12, swiping notifications on lock screen was laggy, but it fixed in iOS 13. I hope the iOS 14 fix all of them.

One doesn’t/shouldn’t need to have the most expensive phone to have a normal UI/UX experience. The stutter issue is not normal, it’s a software optimization that has not been addressed, I suspect likely on purpose.

If the 2 types of displays perform without a dramatic difference (such as the obvious stuttering happening), people will not consider the 120hz refresh rate valuable. I don’t think think that’s the right way to sell something but it’s out of our hands.

In my opinion, the choppiness has been deliberately made more prominent over some time. It wasn’t this bad/obvious before (and there was no reason for it to be as there was no looming new display technology for it to be compared with).

Hi bro I realized this shutter issue too the first day I bought myself a iPhone 11 Pro Max. Just so you know my iPhone 8 Plus has no such shutter issue since the beginning of iOS 11 and been through multiple iOS updates until iOS 13.6. One thing worth mentioning is I recalled that when I first updated to iOS 13, it had suffered from bugs that made our Home Screen showing signs of jerkiness when swiping left and right that's why Apple released so many iOS 13 updates within a few months to address multiple issues and I'm glad that the Home Screen jerkiness issue was fixed.

Wow it must have been really tough for you to endure since you were started to use your iPhone XS Max in 2018. I tried everything I could do like Reset All Settings and Erase All Content and Settings. Since I'm an IT guy so I know it's useless for reset and erase because the problem already existed as a new phone. And then I also did DFU restore but also to no avail. After doing some research on the internet I was suspecting that probably it's another Display Module faulty issue (https://support.apple.com/en-my/iphone-x-display-module-replacement-program) but later I came to think of it since my iPhone 11 Pro Max is a new phone out of the box but still have this issue then maybe it's not Display Module issue after all. I highly suspect it's iOS software or touchscreen controller driver issue. I guess Apple is using Synaptics touchscreen controller chip for iPhone XS series and iPhone 11 series.
