I have the Sony WH-1000XM3 and when I connect them to my MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) they play through the headphones but after 10 minutes or so sound will suddenly start playing out the speakers. It has only started happening today, and (with brief testing) it doesn't seem to happening on iPhone 7. Anyone have any answers.

Ok I restarted my mac and there was a software update on the headphones, it seems to work now.

FIRST troubleshooting step is ALWAYS = RESTART the device! = for EVERY problem
What event preceded the onset of this misbehavior? Upgrade to macOS 10.15 Catalina?

If you did not use this, you should - developed by a fellow ASC member who is now Director of Mac products for > Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes for Mac

Let's assume that it IS Catalina
Apple released macOS Catalina 10.15.1, the first update to the macOS Catalina operating system on 29 Oct 2019
Have you applied that update?
If not, do so, then test
If yes, restart your Mac, then test
If it still persists, Contact Support
Yeah that’s what I used it get everything as well. There were some other software issues like I couldn’t download Catalina it said update not found but I downloaded it from recovery mode as other people seemed to be having the same problems and it worked for them.
It may have been Catalina, but I think have used the headphones after Catalina upgrade and they had been fine, however I may be wrong
Yeah I know normally I do that but I (wasn’t actually me) just fixed a load of problems with my Mac (malware) and I didn’t want another problem so I just went to the community.
