Battery Indicator stuck at 100% All day

My battery indicator stays at 100% and then will die without warning. Has anyone had this issue? It started doing this within 2 weeks of receiving the watch, the update (6.1) did fix it temporarily and then a couple of days ago, it started again.

I sent my Series 5 into the repair center (well, my Apple Store sent it there) and it bounced back from them after a couple days, saying they couldn't replicate the problem. They were useless. It's like the Apple Watch falls into this gulch, as far as Apple support goes. It's the only thing they can't try to fix in the store, at their own Genius Bar. And they weren't that happy with the Apple repair center either. Before I read about the turn it off for 15 min and then back on again, I had literally tried every single thing except getting a new watch (which the store said I couldn't get, since Apple Care didn't cover a repair when they couldn't find the problem). But I've read about people here who got new ones and it didn't help the problem. I've restored from previous, from scratch, put it in the freezer (worked a couple days), taken it to the Genius Bar three times and talked to support in Cupertino (I pay $500 a year for Joint Venture Business Support) and the only consistent thing I ever got was that it was a software issue. No updates ever helped. My previous four Apple Watches, each of the series, didn't have this problem. But then I did the 15 min off and back on (I can't remember how much it was already charged when I did that. I think I did it when it had said 100% for 24 hours and I knew it would in the next 6 hours just randomly die. I haven't had any problems since then and that's been around 2-3 months ago that I did it. If anything, it uses up the battery a tiny bit faster than it used to.

Been having this problem off and on for a month. Called Apple about this twice and both times they blamed the beta software I had installed. I don’t buy that exclamation and won’t be going through the length steps to downgrade both my iPhone and watch. Right now it sits at 100 percent or 99 percent for over 12 hours a day. When it begins clicking down, I know it’s about to die, usually around 80 percent. It’s obvious this is a big problem with many users and I find it unacceptable that there remain no solutions.

It's May 2020 and I'm having this exact problem with my Series 5 Apple Watch, bought three months ago. The watch stays stuck at a high number (99% or 100%) for hours. Then a few hours later, it suddenly goes dead with no warning. Called Apple Support, they ran a diagnostic remotely (since most of the stores are still closed because of COVID-19) and they saw no issues.

They must not be reading these forums, as most of these posts were written five months ago and the problem has not been resolved. The Watch worked fine until a week or two ago.

This issue is only getting worst for me. In the past week, I can leave the watch on the charger all night, wake up, and the battery will get down to around 75% and will just shut off. No warning, no indication to connect it to power, just a paperweight on my wrist.

I contacted AppleCare today and was told that the diagnostic results didn’t show anything wrong with the watch and the only other option is to to ship it off to Depot for “repair”.

I know for a fact that Depot will also show that nothing is wrong with it and will then just return it to me.

It’s unbelievable that Apple hasn’t addressed this issue.

Well it's unfortunate and definitely not like Apple to be acting like this. It's either a problem they don't think is important to fix or they haven't figured out what caused it. With regards to obtuse support people, they are simply following orders not to suggest they know anything about it. All they have to do a search and they many complaints are right there.

I'm so glad to have found this thread. I bought an AW5 about a month ago and it's my first Apple Watch and to say this issue has been frustrating is an understatement. It will randomly shut off anytime day or night for no reason - sometimes it says it has a low battery when the indicator had read 60-90% minutes before (I've never gotten a low battery notification), other times it will claim to still be charged at 75% or more. The ONLY way to get it to wake up is to put it on the charger, which is beyond frustrating. I'll be following for any updates but also contacting Apple support because ... what the heck!? My friends who have had Apple Watches for years say they've never had this issue, so it doesn't seem like a software problem.
