I wouldn't even have this is your home.
Get rid of it and recycle this device responsibly.
This is is a dangerous condition.
If one of the anode membranes inside of a Lithium-ion battery breaks down, there is a possibility of the battery going thermal runaway and catching fire!
Bring this somewhere or an Apple Store where they can deal with/recycle this device and its damaged battery responsibly.

You need to completely STOP using this iPad.
This is a very dangerous condition.
That iPad is now a useless device to you now.
DO NOT EVEN TRY TO USE!!!
Time for a new or refurbished iPad, now.
Bring it into your nearest, “local” Apple Store to have Apple recycle this device as soon as possible.
I stopped using it a few weeks ago when this started, already purchased a new one. I had put this one away and discovered this yesterday. I called the tech line to see how dangerous it was and how to dispose of it. They offered to open a repair ticket, which I declined. Clearly it’s not useable.
Tech line said it was swollen batteries and not dangerous, I still don’t feel comfortable about that.
Done already thank you .
