Mac Virus

Im confused by all of the posts. My mac had a virus (my fault)- apple removed it multiple time but it kept coming back. I downloaded Komros Anti Malware and it finally removed it for good. fast forward a year and a half and yes- i tried to stream a football game and somehow got the same virus.. i didnt click any ads etc.. point being that now im reading Komros isnt good for the Mac? Maybe im reading things wrong but could have sworn I saw something about komros having a virus as well?

Anyways- what is safe for Mac to get rid of these @@#% virus? im sick of it changing my default web browser and crashing my internet. :\

Those “streaming” sites are good sources for malware.

Komros was apparently a clone of another antivirus app, Adware Doctor, make by the same developer, but under a different name. Apple removed both of them from the Mac App Store. If you find yourself repeatedly being tricked into installing adware, then my suggestion would be a paid subscription to MalwareBytes. See https://malwarebytes.com

There are a number of reputable anti-malware products. Personally I use Sophos: http://www.sophos.com. There is a free version which includes the functionality you probably need (real time detection and blacklisted/compromised website blocking).

One thing to be careful of ... if you want to try out more than one anti-malware product make sure you don't have two set to give real time detection at the same time as they'll conflict with each other.
