My airpod charging case only charges to 94%. The light is amber but the percentage doesn’t change. Is it faulty ?

They are only 4 months old so the battery shouldn’t be worn out already. I contacted Apple and they will send a new one if I return the faulty one and pay £62.44 holding fee incase I damaged them. I don’t have that amount spare at the minute so will contact them again when I have.
