Go to Apple > System Preferences > Sound > select the Output tab > check to see if both the Internal and External TV outputs are available.

If not, reset the Mac Mini's NVRAM as per > Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

If the NVRAM reset doesn't help and if the audio connection was using the HDMI connection?

Then try temporarily unplugging the HDMI cable from the Mac Mini and see if the audio returns to Internal.

If the NVRAM reset doesn't help and if the audio connection was analog 3.5mm from the headphone jack?

Then try plugging and unplugging the 3.5mm audio cable a couple of times to see if the audio returns to Internal.
