Microphone grayed out

I don’t know if I’ve changed a setting or what, but I’m not able to toggle the Microphone on for apps that use it. I’ve checked the suggestions I’ve found online for settings, have a restarted, but nothing. I have iphone 7+ with the latest 13.2.2 update as of this morning. I’m not tech savvy, so need easy instructions to follow. :-) TIA

Hi there, Gizmo!

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, you're not able to use your microphone in apps that you use on your iPhone. I'm happy to help!

Apps are granted access to your microphones the first time you open them after installing. If you've given access to apps previously and they've stopped working, you can typically get the microphones working again by enabling them under your privacy settings: Change app access to private data on iPhone - Apple Support.

I'd also suggesting making sure that there are no restrictions set for the microphone access: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support.

Finally, try uninstalling the apps: How to delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support, then reinstalling them: Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books - Apple Support. The first time you open the apps after reinstalling you should be prompted to grant access.

Have a lovely day!
