MacBook Pro 15" Retina - crashes/restarts if/when using trackpad and battery [only in this combination].


To rephrase, MacBook Pro doesn't crash if/when plugged into power supply and USB mouse, [must be this combination to prevent crash/restart].


Makes sense!? [facepalm]

What is the condition of the battery?


From the batt icon in the upright menu bar, hold the option key and click it open.


anything but Condition:Normal needs to be serviced.

See if you qualify: https://support.apple.com/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall



You can try running the Diagnostic/AHT http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509

and see if it kicks out an error code.


In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"—
