app update rollback

My son is using an iPad (4th gen) running iOS 10.3.3. He is trying to play Minecraft on the iPad, but it has been updated past what iOS 10 can run. He has pulled the app from family sharing, so it is not registered as purchased under his username so I can't do the app rollback steps I have found online. How do I roll the app update back to a usable version (I believe the version before this last update was playable)?

Unless you are using a special version of iTunes ( version 12.6.5.3 ) to still save the actual apps ( the actual ipsw app file ) and you are actually copying and saving older versions of apps on a full, regular computer, there is no way to get older versions of apps from the iOS App Store.

I still want the ability to save apps and control the apps that I purchase to use and to make copies of certain apps that I can’t allow to update as I am using older versions of companion Mac OS apps that I need the older iOS and Mac versions of the apps to stay compatible to each other.

I still use this older version of iTunes to save, control and copy any or all of the apps on my iDevices.

If you have not ever been doing this, then there is no way to restore much earlier versions of an app at this stage.

Sorry.
