not enough disk space

I am trying to drag an audio file, either as a iTunes file or one of the built in sound effects built in onto the timeline.

When I do i get not enough disk space message and the audio file does not transfer.

I have 130gb plus of free space so not sure whats going on here.

any ideas ?

thanks

With Catalina it requires permission to do just about anything.

FCP X needs permission to access your stuff.

Go to System Settings>Security Privacy>Full Disc Access to see if FCP X has permission.

The above is a possible cause.
