iPhone sync window in Catalina problem - iPhone Finder window just disappear

When I plug my iPhone 7 in an iMac 27 (OS Catalina) I see normally my iPhone icon on the left bar in the Finder. When I click on the icon, then normally shows on the right side of the Finder window the sync screen for the iPhone, but a few seconds later all text/information in that window just disappears. Reconnecting is not helpful. The same problem is when I try to connect my iPad Air2, or when I try to connect my other iPhone Xs paired to my MacBook Pro with Catalina. Initially, when Catalina was installed on my Macs a month ago everything was working fine until now. I tried both types of Mac reset, power off and on iPhones, in Finder preferences CD, DVD, iOS devices are checked, all OS and iOS are updated. Any suggestion?

Hi,

I have the same problem. I tried to synchronize my iPhone XI on my Mac pro, but its not possible to select any or the synchronization options, because that screen turns into white after few seconds. I contacted Apple support and after several days of trials, the problem persists. Here is the link to the message that I posted in this forum:

Hi i_rina!

Thank you for your suggestion.

Unfortunately, that isn't solve my problem. I was tried several more things, but without success.

My Mac recognize iPhone (iPad), there at the left side in the Finder column iPhone is visible. Furthermore, I can see iPhone sync screen on the right side in the Finder window, but somehow that screen disappear after about 3 seconds (during that 3 seconds, nothing in that sync window is clickable).

In the Finder left side column my iPhone still remain recognized, but without right hand window (like on my previously attached screenshot).

My iOS devices is also recognized in Music App (ex iTunes), and is visible in System information in USB devices.

Everything was ok the first week after the Catalina installation, but now that sync window disappears.

Cheers!

Hi!

Thanks for that suggestion. I tried all of that suggested procedure but unfortunately doesn't work.

Btw, before all of that, I disconnected all other USB cables from iMac.

Firstly I tried with a new account, but the problem remained the same.

Then I tried with safe mode and the problem remained.

After that, I tried again with that new account and again doesn't work.

In every try, my iPhone was recognized in System information in the USB devices.

One difference, in safe mode, iPhone wasn't visible in Finder left side column, but I'm not sure that in Safe mode everything needs to works the same as in normal mode. I checked in Finder Preferences and CD, DVD, iOS box was ticked.

In all other tries, iPhone was visible on the left Finder column, but on the right window, as I said in the previous message "I can see iPhone sync screen on the right side in the Finder window, but somehow that screen disappears after about 3 seconds (during that 3 seconds, nothing in that sync window is clickable)".

Then I tried one more thing. My actual OS Catalina Version is 10.15.1, and I started iMac from my backup external disc (CC Cloner bootable backup) with a backup copy from 31st October with Catalina 10.15 Version, and everything works perfectly with that version.

Just one additional information, I have connections problem with my iMac 27 connected with my iPhone7 and iPad Air2, but also my office colleague has the same problem with MacBook Pro 13" Mid2012 connected with iPhone XS and with iPad Mini2.

That MacBook Pro also has Catalina 10.15.1 but also works perfectly with 10.15 Version.

MacBook Pro and iMac are not connected, they work separately.

Cheers!

Hi nenonovak!

The problem isn't solved yet, but I am in contact with the Apple support team and we tried the last several days to localize the issue.

Today's new information is that Apple engineers now working to fix that issue, and a macOS Catalina update should be available soon. We hope that the problem will be resolved with that update.

But also check if there will be an iOS update available soon, there may be some changes too, to fix the problem.

Cheers!

Hi,

As I mentioned in my previous message, I was in phone contact for several days to Apple's senior advisor and Apple engineers and after all of our trials and tests they determine at the end that this is software problem and they tell that should be soon resolved with an update on macOS Catalina.

Hopefully, then everything will work out fine, we just have to be patient a bit more.

They tell me also that I need to check if there will be an iOS update available soon, It is possible that some changes will be made there as well, to fix that problem.

Thanks for the update. When I was talking with Apple support on the phone, they told me that they were not aware of any problem like this, but I am happy to know that you also contacted them. I tried to synchronize my iPhone in different computers with Mac OS Catalina installed and I always got the same outcome. So it was not a problem of my computer.

Let us hope that a future upgrading will solve this problem.

I had my issue solved. I am certain what the cause is but the solution could be more tricky. I was on a trip and needed to use my phone as a hotspot and the same time charge my phone through my computer. When my phone got connected I suddenly got a dialog window if I wanted to approve my computer access to my phone. I got thes twice in a row but here after everything is working just as it did shortly in the beginning with Catalina.

So I am sure the issue is the computer does not appear to be approved but I am not sure how to provoke this dialog window to show!
