Apple Music Freezing/Crashing

Glad to hear you're going again DrAndyb. I did a little more digging and found this apple community post that advises to delete the Music app (settings Music > turn off Music > turn off sync > then delete the app) and install it again which has seemed to have resolved my issue (for now at least!).

Fingers crossed I won't need to do this dance in future.

I was having the same issues, I uninstalled just the music app and then reinstalled it from the App Store, it cause some sort of reinitialisation of the music app and where I had to setup an music account, appears to have fixed the issue.

So far 13.3.1 has fixed it here for me...really hope that it does come back, really don’t like Spotify

Make sure your iOS software is up to date

• in Settings- General - Reset - Reset Network Settings
• Restart your iOS device  (until the Apple logo appears)

Exact same issue here been happening since iOS13. Was able to work around by disabling cellular data in music app settings. But that sucks and means limiting to just downloaded songs while out and about.

Issue occurs on XR, 6S plus and 8

Hubby has suggested we change to Spotify maybe we should try it out

This is exactly the same problem I have. I have an iPhone 11 and ever since 13.3 music will just stop playing after about half and hour and all I see on my watch and phone is the play buttons but I have to restart the app.

before this update I played music for days without skipping a beat.

Yes!!! Keeps happening I’m so over it. My fiancé and I both having problems it will constantly freeze and be unresponsive and then just crash. Happens in car, blue tooth speaker at home etc etc

Spotify is ok, but I'm not a huge fan as I have a large library of my own music which I can't import/store in Spotify like I can with Apple Music library sync.

Also not a fan of the library management in Spotify, no smart playlists and more difficult to browse around. But it doesn't crash.

Best option would be for apple to fix this asap, otherwise I might too switch despite the drawbacks.

Called Apple and they said that they know about the issue and are working on a fix...lets hope that comes with the next update

Has anyone tried using other music app like Spotify or Soundcloud or google music etc. Spotify has no issues and playlist is in place and free version lets you stream too.. 😁😁😁

I have recently had this start to happen (either after the last or second last update).

I have a 35 minute motorbike ride into work, and about half way through I loose reception. historically, the music has stopped temporarily and come back (or pressing play on my bluetooth headset has re-started it).

In the last few weeks, it doesn't re-start playing, and pressing the bluetooth play button or asking siri to play music doesn't work. It also says my phone needs to be unlocked to access other apps.

When I get to work, the app shows the pause button (as though it's playing, but nothing is happening). Sometimes it crashes after opening it. I have to force close it and restart it again. I've tried force closing and restarting my phone... these things have not helped.

Hope this helps anyone who is able to help. It's frustrating, as I now only have music for half a ride.

The stupid thing keeps crashing. Restarted phone, did hard reset too. I can’t locate half of the playlist when everything was synced to iCloud. Spotify n Soundcloud never in 6 years had soo many issues . Switched to Apple Music two weeks ago from Spotify premium on iPhone 11.

Keep getting message that item not available. Cancelling it

Was hopeful that the most recent update 13.3.1 would fix all this. That's a big nope. Thought it was my iPhone 7 plus causing the issue, got an iPhone 11 and it's just as bad. Seriously considering Spotify after this constant battle of closing, restarting that does absolutely nothing.
