CarPlay phone issue with 2019 Subaru Outback

I got a new 2019 Subaru Outback one week ago. The CarPlay will play audio for everything, except when incoming calls come in, the audio switches to the iPhone when plugged into CarPlay. The only way to hear the caller is to pull the plug, or put them on speaker?! This is quite aggravating, as I am not always in the position to disconnect navigation and risk missing a turn, etc.... Any one know a fix for this?

I did not have this issue with my 2018 Outback

I see that you're having an issue with CarPlay on your new car. I can understand wanting this to work properly, and I'd be happy to help.

Let's start by having you restart your iPhone and then make sure that you're using the latest version of (13.2.3) software. If you're not using the latest version, go ahead and update and test to see if the issue remains.
