Does Catalina save passwords?

hello, I have a question, I noticed that when you sign up for a site ... the Safari application does not appear asking you to save the password for this site, but I have to do it manually, through the preferences of Safari .. What is related to fact that I often use private browsing (so I avoid deleting the history) or is it a Catalina feature? ... if it is related to Catalina, is there a way to enable the automatic password save function?
