How to fix extremely slow WiFi in W10 Bootcamp

Environment:

Apple MacBook Pro late 2016, Catalina with the latest updates as of 10/17/2019

Windows 10 Pro 1903

Problem: Windows replaced apple driver with the Microsoft driver which degraded wifi performance.

To fix:

1. Download boot-camp drivers using standard apple process ( Start boot-camp assist and select action "download windows files").

2. Boot to Windows, extract files from BroadcomWirelessWin8x64.exe

  1. In Device Manager delete wifi 802.11ac device.

4. In system32\drivers\ replace BCMWL63A.SYS with bcmwl63a.sys which was extracted from apple BroadcomWirelessWin8x64.exe file.

  1. In Device Manager rescan the devices

It is simpler to rollback the driver, if available, and then create a Windows System Restore point. See Wifi very slow on iMac running Windows 10… - Apple Community for reference.
