I have a trusted http uni website with basic auth I toggled remmeber me and it worked for couple of weeks then suddenly safari keeps asking for the credentials everytime i navigate the website, it works on chrome so easliy

See if it works as expected if you boot into the Safe Mode.

Try going to Safari/Preferences/Privacy/Manage Website Data and delete the cookie(s) for the web site. Quit/reopen Safari and see if it will retain the logon credentials.
Tried that many times didn't work
If I understand, the Remember me function is on the web site. Have you tried toggling that off and on?
