ALL CAPS NAMES

My phone thinks every name I type should be all caps. I don’t mean proper case, like capitalizing the first letter, I mean the whole name, every letter is uppercase it is so frustrating. I don’t want to turn off auto capitalization because I do want the first letter to be properly capitalized. That’s the first thing everybody tells your — just turn off auto caps. I want names to be capitalized like John or Sarah. But not JOHN AND SARAH.

You can manually do a workaround in the text replacement by adding the phrase like this

phrase: John

shortcut: JOHN

And now when I type John it will make it the way it should be.

But pretty much every common name I use is converted to all uppercase so I can’t be doing this all the time for every time I come across a name I’m typing.

this is very frustrating. Several friends who have iPhones don’t have this problem. The problem has existed for over a year. I’m using a new iPhone XS,

ive dome a dictionary reset probably a dozen times. The issue happens on my iPad too. I’ve tried resetting the dictionary on both devices at the same time. I’ve done soft reset and I have even done a hard reset on my phone.

iPhone XS, iOS 13
