apple tv remote back button not working

Last night, after watching a movie in the Disney app, I found my remote would not go back (menu button). The light on the Apple TV reacts when I press the button, but nothing happens. The Siri/microphone button also does not function. I tried the remote on my iPhone, and the same problem with the menu button, it will not back out of a screen. However, the Siri button worked and I can now ask to open another app, but still not just back out. The touch and click button works on both remote and iPhone. Any ideas????
