Unable to install fonts

I am unable to install fonts (from dafont, sofontsy, etc) since the Catalina update. I am able to download the fonts and go through the steps to install, but the font never installs. The install box flashes a few times before disappearing.

Put the fonts into your local Library Fonts directory. This is the third-place that the System looks for installed fonts, and provided that they are compatible fonts for Catalina, these should be available to all applications.

Click on your Desktop to get Finder's attention. Press shift + command + L to open a new Finder window on your local Library location. Find the Fonts folder, and add your fonts to it. These will automatically get activated, and become available, without the need to reboot, or logout of your account. Close the Finder window.
