I cannot use air drop, can someone please help?

I'm trying to send my grandson's pics to my mac.

I read on the web I could sign out of iCloud on my phone, then sign back in. I'm worried I will lose my photos on my phone and in iCloud. I have a lot of photos, don't want to lose them.

My mac's air drop is also not showing my iPhone to air drop to. Something is wrong and I'm worried I will make it worse.

Please help if you can asap.

THANK YOU!

I had gone over this a few times yesterday before coming here. Everything checked out. Normally I always choose contacts only. I tried it w/everyone, still didn't work. Then I came here to post.

After reading bluetooth in your post I hadn't recalled seeing a bluetooth icon on my mac's menu bar. Just now I checked my mac again for wifi and bluetooth (Wifi icon is at the top of my screen, but not bluetooth, nor was it ever) it was on, but I turned it off then back on, I was able to airDrop!!! I changed back to contacts only and rechecked both ways of air drop mac-phone, phone - mac. It still works.

I have no idea what made it work, because bluetooth was enabled when I first checked. Do you have an idea in case this happens again?

Thank you very much for taking the time to help a grandmother trying to get her grand baby on all my devices. :)

You must work for Apple because you're a wealth of information, lucky for me! Could Verizon give them away with a new line because they may be one of those affected, or perhaps refurbished? And if I do receive one of the No Service 7's, would Apple go ahead and repair before No Service shows up?

I have a SE since '16, which I've loved. I have small hands and every phone was too big, including the 7 back then, but I'd like a little bigger screen, better picture and video quality since I have over 1,000 pics, probably a lot more, so basically I use my phone as a camera, do make calls, text, and occasionally use the internet. No games, movies, checking mail.

I am putting an additional line on my acct., so wondered about the free 7. They also offer a 7+ for $5, but it looks like a brick for me to hold.

Thanks

p.s.

I just saw I could also get an 8 64 gb for $5 or 128gb for $10/month. They seem to be the same physical size. Is the 8 a better phone, does it have problems like some &'s might, or other problems?

I will say my SE has taken a beating, I've been very rough with it, not on purpose; it's fallen down wood stairs on ceramic many times, fallen onto the sharp edge of an elevated brick hearth, many times, dropped from high onto these surfaces. I do have a thin frame and screen protector, rated high, but every time it fell, dropped, etc., the insides must have jostled, so I also wonder will the 7 or 8 fair as well?

Thanks

No, I don't work for Apple at all. I just volunteer my time here. But ihave been using iPhones since the 5 in 2012. I'm pretty familiar with them at this point.

Unlikely. They're probably just clearing stock. The iPhone 7 is over 3 years old now and Apple has officially discontinued and stopped selling them. They'll only repair it if it exhibits the issue, otherwise, there's no reason to repair or replace something that is not having any issues.

The 8 is the newer iPhone, and has slightly better specs yes. There are no known widespread issues with the 8 though.

My 7 took its fair share of drops and bruises, and continued to work fine outside of the battery, so I'd say they are built well.

The iPhone 8, has the glass back, and can be wirelessly charged, so that may make it slightly less durable than the full aluminum iPhone 7 however.
