IPhone disconnects when importing photos

Hi there! I’m about to loss my mind. I’ve been having this problem for far too long. Every time I go to import my photos from my iPhone 7 onto my windows 10 Acer laptop it begins to import my photos via the windows photo app, but then disconnects after importing 8 or less photos (sometimes doesn’t import at all). I made sure that I have the device driver up to date on my iPhone, and the cord I’m using works just fine. It connects to the computer, it just doesn’t import my photos. Please help :(

iPhone 7, iOS 13

I fixed the issue by removing the screen lock timer and disabeling my antivirus live scanning. I also disabled my firewall but I doubt that had antying to do with it.

Setting-> Display & Brightness -> Auto-Lock

Set it to never for the file transfer and set it back when done.

I'm having this issue too and it is doing my head in. Changing 'Keep Original' under photos appears to work and everything transfers but then you can't watch the videos at all. They won't play and some photos turn into HEIC files. We have an old iPad that won't upgrade past iOS 13 and still on on iOS 12 and it works fine. The issue has only happened since iOS 13. Anyone else been able to work out a fix?

I had a very similar issue with importing pictures and disconnections (with multiple devices). I ran "iPhone/iPod Connectivity" through iTunes. Results showed iPod service was not running (was red). I reinstalled iTunes from the apple website (not windows store) and eventually had iPod service running again. After this fix, importing resumed working normally without any further issues or disconnections. Additionally note, I did not have to change my camera settings and it remained at "Automatic". I almost gave up but stumbled upon this and thank god it worked.

I spent a lot of time today using AirDrop to download photos from iPhone to Mac’s download folder. In case you decide to go this route,

1- for Images between one and two Mb, choose 30 images at a time to copy photos to mac

2- make sure all the photos are copied from iPhone. You can check number of those you selected and number of those copied.

Followed the suggestions of changing "Automatic" to "Keep Originals" and worked perfectly. Windows can now open HEIC files so no need to convert them. I did download the new HEVC CODEC for videos which is $0.99 on the Microsoft store as I read that you need both that one and the free HEIF extensions (which was already installed on my system from a recent Windows update, but if you search in the Microsoft store it will tell you if it is installed already). Just copied thousands of photos and videos with no problems. Finally!! Tested and Windows Photos opened them no problem.

Just in case someone is still trying to do this and has stumbled across this thread as i did. What worked for me at the end i connected my iphone 7 to my pc, opened the storage and started copying first all .jpeg images on my pc (not even once did it get disconnected), then the .png and .gif (also no problems), when i chose the .mov or .mp4 files it started to disconnect. Out of the 800 files in one folder (i had 5 of them) i got 2-3 "corrupted" files, either a .mov or mostly a .mp4 that was the cause of my disconnection issue. I did not change any settings or had to use any app to help. Hope someone finds this helpful.
