IPhone disconnects when importing photos

Hi there! I’m about to loss my mind. I’ve been having this problem for far too long. Every time I go to import my photos from my iPhone 7 onto my windows 10 Acer laptop it begins to import my photos via the windows photo app, but then disconnects after importing 8 or less photos (sometimes doesn’t import at all). I made sure that I have the device driver up to date on my iPhone, and the cord I’m using works just fine. It connects to the computer, it just doesn’t import my photos. Please help :(

This is basic functionality that used to be seamless and easy. Clearly Apple wants you to buy cloud based storage or a new phone. You're insane if you think they're not aware of this glitch and able to correct it with ease. It's shameful practice.

It also helps to connect the iPhone directly to your motherboard USB port, i.e. not via a USB hub.

turning off wifi helped for me too... super-strangely... i also switched the "keep originals" setting, but it wasn't working till i turned the wifi off too...

update: nope. that helped for transferring one folder's worth of images. trying it on a second folder fails now. of course. back to the drawing board.

This is the thing that worked. Didn't have to mess with file formats like the other commenters mentioned.

Tried everything and I can not back my photos up to my Windows PC. I have literally 1.5 gb of space left and I literally cannot back my photos up. Anybody find the fix yet?

i've found a workaround

JPG(HEIC) and PNG i'm transferring in "automated" mode

MOV in "Move Originals" mode

seems to be working for me, please try

Don't forget to turn your lock screen off too

>Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock > Never

(Change back to desired lock once you've complete import)

I selected 20 to 30 pics at the time , until i finished, if phone stops responding make a hard reset, then try again but only 20 to 30 pics per transfer.
