Download Catalina to install on different iMac

i have a client with a late 2015 iMac running High Sierra. she'd like to upgrade to Catalina but has a really slow internet connection. i tried to download it on my late 2011 iMac (since my internet is 10-20 times faster) to install on her mac but the app store won't let me since my mac is too old to run Catalina. is there a way around this?

iMac 27", macOS 10.13

i figured that was the case, but thought i'd ask since some other software/os's support

downloading upgrades/install packages for multiple installs.

client would bring the mac (or rather have me pick it up/return it), but i try to avoid

transporting machines if i can. i probably will just start the download late in the afternoon

and go back to finish the install the next day.

tx for the info.

If you still have the Catalina installer residing in your Applications folder, then you need to put it in the Trash temporarily. See How to upgrade to macOS Catalina (10.15). The App Store should allow the download if you do not have the installer anywhere on the computer except for the Trash.

If the above doesn't work for you, then try this:

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. At the prompt copy and paste the following:

sudo softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.15.1

Press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your Admin password but it will not display in the Terminal. Press RETURN again.

tx for your suggestions. sadly, my mac is too old, and apple refuses to download the catalina installer even once.

also tried the terminal approach. softwareupdate tells me these aren't valid options. looked at the output of softwareupdate history but even tho' it shows an "Install macOS High Sierra 10.13.1" entry (from the last available osx update for my mac), i can't figure out the proper syntax to get this to download the installer; the best i get is that there are no such updates.
