Mac OS Catalina and Mac Mini late 2012

I have a Mac Mini late 2012 running Mac OS El Capitan. I would like to upgrade to Mac OS Catalina, but I'm afraid because some guys told me that probably I can have some serious problems, because Catalina is 64-bit and that my 32-bit programs won't work in Catalina, etc., and I don't know what to do.

The problem with El Capitan is that I'm having problems with old applications like Safari that don't access some new sites without errors (I had to install Firefox and Chrome). I found the new version of Safari in Apple Store but I didn't success to download the upgrade, etc.

I would like to get some help. Thanks in advance.

You may consider Mojave 10.14.6 as good place to be since the Mac mini 2012

may have issue with some aspects of Catalina -- or maybe High Sierra 10.13.6.

"Take an inventory of the apps on your Mac and see which

ones are still 32-bit. Go to a developer's website or search

the web for update or upgrade information. Keep track of

upgrade costs so you can plan your spending to get all the

upgrades you need." - works in El Capitan 10.11.6


The macOS versions beyond Sierra 10.12.6 & prefer or require

a solid-state-drive (SSD) installed; and use APFS, set up correctly.
