I can't upgrade my Macbook Air 11" mid 2012 to Catalina

I have a macbook air 11 inch mid 2012. Should be compatible with Catalina according to the list here, but app store doesn't show it. Currently running High Sierra 10.13.6. Is it possible/advisable to update to Catalina?

Main issue is that there is no support for more and more apps, i.e. Google Drive.

You should be able to upgrade it to Catalina. A mid 2012 MacBook Air can be upgraded to Catalina 10.15.7 but no later. Try the instructions in: How to download and install macOS - Apple Support

Be aware that if you upgrade to Catalina 10.15 or later you will also need to update any non-Apple 32-bit apps. See: https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/
