Trouble synching bookmarks to iPhone 5s (running latest iOS 10.3.4)

I am on the road overseas with my iPad and iPhone (that is no access to my Mac). All the iCloud syncs (pics, contacts, notes etc) are working fine. But the bookmarks in Safari are not syncing to my iPhone.

I have read MANY posts on this. I have tried all the suggestions on Apple Support (so please DON’T tell me to turn on/off Safari toggle, restart blah blah blah).

In toggling the Safari tab I took the option ‘Delete from my phone’ (doh!) - thinking it might ‘force’ a sync with iCloud. But it didn’t! Now I have no bookmarks on my phone. Of course I can manually revisit every site but I have better things to do.

HELP!

Thanks in advance, Grahame

Hello grahame97.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that you have deleted all of your Safari bookmarks on your iPhone. You’d like to get those bookmarks back without having to visit each website. I’m happy to help.

Please go to iCloud Once logged go to Account Settings > Advanced > Restore Bookmarks.

You can access this website from your iPad or your iPhone by requesting the desktop website by press and holding the refresh icon in the address bar since you don’t have access to a computer.

Take care.

Welcome back grahame97.

Once in Account Settings, it will show iCloud Settings at the top of the page, then you will see these sections as follows: Storage, My Devices, Advanced. In the Advanced section, you will see Restore Bookmarks at the bottom of the list on the left.

If you're still unable to access this, please try another Wi-Fi network or cellular data to see if you're able to access this.

Please also refer to the section titled “Restore your Safari bookmarks and reading list” here: Restore contacts, calendars, and more in Settings on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Cheers.

Thanks green500. I lost the bookmarks on an iPhone so that is what I am using to try to restore them.

So I go to iCloud to the first page. I hold down the refresh icon and then to Request Desktop Site. But it doesn’t load it just goes to the Account Settings page and then jams. Or simply comes back to the first page.

On the first page the only options are Account Settings or Learn More ... (about using more Apps on iCloud.com on an iPad or desktop computer). Or at top right is my name with a drop down with Account Settings, Help or Sign Out or Cancel.

When I go to Account Settings it often jams. But when it doesn’t there is no Advanced option.

What is going on?

Thanks, Grahame
