Logitech circle 2 Homekit secure video not recording

I’ve completed the Homekit Secure Video firmware update for my Circle 2 and can stream video without issue. However, I’ve turned on “stream and allow recording” when home and away (and I do have the 200 gb iCloud storage) but the camera won’t record any video. Logitech’s site indicates the camera should have a steady red glow when set to stream and allow recording, but mine is still blue indicating that it’s only set to stream.

How can I activate recording as shown in my settings? (Currently set to record any motion, no time or people restrictions)

I had the same problem; my HKSV enabled Circle 2 camera wasn’t recording. I was able to solve this in the following way: I checked which device was used as the active hub. I noticed that it was my HomePod. I unplugged my HomePod, rebooted my Apple TV. After this Apple TV took over as the active hub and the recording started to work. So it looks like this bug is on Apple, not Logitech.

I had this issue and resolved it as follows (using some insight from the Logitech forum). I didn’t remove the camera from the Home app prior to performing the following steps, but I did take a note of the setup code (an 8 digit number) which is laser etched on the back of the camera. It is also worth noting that once you’ve added the camera to the Home app, the Logitech app is entirely redundant.

  • Reset the camera by holding down the physical power button (it’s on the back off the camera) for 10 seconds (the light ring cycled through various colours before settling on green.
  • Added the camera as a new accessory directly to the Home app. I didn’t have my quick start guide (which has the HomeKit barcode printed in it) so I used the 8 digit setup code I mentioned earlier.
  • The camera is added as a brand new accessory, so I removed the old one.

All now works as expected

Hello TheOlyGuy,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having trouble with recording video from your Circle 2 camera. I'd be happy to share information that may help.

Take a look at the information here, and ensure that your settings are correct: Use HomeKit Secure Video.

If your camera will still not record, you may need to reach out to the manufacturer.

Take care.

Thank you for the reply. My equipment and settings are correct. I’ve also been on the Logitech support forums and their current thinking is that the issue is a problem with the Home app.
