MacBook Pro 16 inch battery life

Just got a new MacBook Pro 16" and today is the first full day of use. I am getting less than 4 hours of battery life, not even close to the advertised 11 hours.

Will do more testing at work tomorrow and hopefully things improve.

Config is 2.4GHZ 8-core, i9, 32GB RAM, Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB

MacBook Pro 16", macOS 10.15

Partially figured it out (for me at least)

Station (getstation.com) was forcing my discrete GPU to run all the time and eat up all my battery.

Open it using terminal with this command: `open /Applications/Station.app/ --args --disable-gpu`

and your battery life life goes from about 3 hours to over 5 hours.

Still not even close to a full day, but much better.

I read somewhere something about the non-charging problem but I'm pretty sure that it can be solved. Just I don't remember how because I'm not involved and I didn't managed to. Maybe I can suggest you to open a different topic for this because it's not related to the power consumption. Regarding the 98% health battery, it's the same for me. Right out of the box it was 98% already, now I'm at 95% (read "SALUTE", it's health) after 8/9 months

Anyway, regarding the fan or not fan, I think that taking an hard position it's pointless. I'm a fan too, I love apple products, indeed I'm here to post and I own the entire echosystem. My wife too and my parents too. I'm only saying that on this particular machine (the mbp16) I'm suffering this problem of the battery, which I've never experienced with other macbooks. I hope that Apple silicon will solve this.

There was a post here, which I can't find now that explained in detail what he did to get up to 11+ hours. I'm literally running 4 tabs on Safari, MacMail open (runs every 15 for mail) and my monitor at 50% and I've gone from 100% to 38% in less than 2 hours. That's a huge issue for an almost $5k week and half old machine. It doesn't appear to be an isolated issue at this point.

@apple Have you identified and addressed these issues? We shouldn't have to use a third party app to do what the machine which was almost $5k was designed to do. Additionally, as most graphics/editing professionals running a secondary monitor I should not get such a significant power loss due to an additional that is itself, self powered. Has anyone addressed this? Has it been brought to apples attention?

I have this issue too,

I just got my i7 32G 1T SSD 16", honestly i am surprised that my battery only last around 3 hour with regular use, no pro apps used,

This is way too far from what Apple advised 11 hours

i also made sure that dGPU is not in use.

how disappointing, I spent $4000 and performance is ok, but battery is much worse than my 2015 macbook 13......

resetting SMC does not seem work for me.

any body has a update/fix ?

Yes, I agree. Today I left the house for one hour and my MBP 16" was plugged-in, and charged to 100%, and the screen had gone blank for power save. When I came back the battery was fully drained because it had stopped charging during that hour and even with the screen off the battery can't last an hour. Each day I also have problems where I plug it in and it gives the repeating ding sound and I have try different ports or restart the laptop for it to begin to charge. I just always have to remember to close the laptop if I'm leaving it for more than a few minutes or it will drain to zero. Definitely going to be taking it back to the store. The first time though they just gave me a new power supply and said the battery's condition did not warrant replacement.
