"Music Library.musiclibrary" file keeps appearing on desktop

Every time I open Apple Music on on macOS Catalina system, it makes a copy of the Music Library.musiclibrary file and puts it on the desktop. This is annoying.

In Apple Music preferences -> File, I have the Music Media folder location set to /Users/myname/Music/Music/Media. The Music Library.musiclibrary file is located in /Users/myname/Music/Music.

Any way to stop having this file created on my desktop?

Thanks.

Try moving the file from the desktop into the default path of ~/Music/Music/Music Library.musiclibrary then hold down option as you launch Music and see if you can browse to and open it on the correct path, and if it will now stay there.

The ~/Music/Music/Music Library.musiclibrary file was already there (and I assumed that the Apple Music app was copying that file to the desktop. When I used the option key to select that file, many of my albums and songs disappeared.

In the end I used the big hammer approach. I copied the music files to a temporary folder, deleted ~/Music/Music/*, started Apple Music with the option key and created a new library. From there I imported my music files from the backup. It fixed my problem.

Thanks for your help.
