Network connection lost after sleep mode

Hi,

my iMac with catalina os cant browse any more after a long sleep mode, the strangest thing is that i can still ping to the urls and get a reply.

i already cleared my network settings, changed the order, changed the dns to 8.8.8.8 without succes, i even reinstalled macos to fix it without success.

this event took place after the upgrade of the os. How can i fix this?

and when this event happens, the computer isnt able to shut down in a normal way so i have to force it, after reboot there is no problem anymore.

my mac is from late 2015

regards,

Peter

Hello Peter,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. From your message I see you're having an issue with your iMac having some issues shutting down, and connecting to the internet after being in sleep.

For the issues with not shutting down as expected, try resetting the System Management Controller (SMC), following these steps: How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac.

For the issue where the Wi-Fi is not connecting, if it continues after resetting the SMC, remove the public DNS and allow your modem to assign the DNS. See if there is any change when you go to use Safari to access a website. Message back with the results.

Cheers!
