My iPhone 6Plus iOS 12.4.3 will not show in Finder on my MacBook Air (Catalina 10.15.1). It shows under connected USB devices and under Music.. My iPad and iPhone 3GS both show in Finder, wirelessly or wired. Do you know how to make the iPhone not being displayed to be forced to show?

That worked for me too.
Doesn't work for me. Finder recognizes the iPhone for a second or two, and then the iPhone disappears from the Sidebar. Phone still charges via the USB connection, I note. Any other ideas?
