iPhone XR WiFi turns on automatically.

I don’t like this because I have limited internet service and it uses a lot of data on my plan. I also don’t like that Apple decided that this is what was good for everyone. Just like when Apple decided to allowed iPhones to share my WiFi password to all my kids friends and anyone in range to use my WiFi. Some people do not have unlimited internet plans. Not to mention someone connected to my network could get my personal info from my home computer that’s why I have my network hidden and don’t allow anyone to use. I would like to disable the automatic WiFi from turning on after I turned it off. Apple has gone to far.

Apple didn't decide to allow iPhones to share the iPhone password willy-nilly, YOU have to decide to allow it. For most of the world it is a convenience and personally I like the feature.

As far as WiFi turning on automatically that only occurs if you temporarily turn it off in Control Center and it tells you it will come back on the next day (or when it connects with a trusted site). If you want to turn it off you need to do so in Settings or have Siri do it for you and you need to change your WiFi settings to not auto connect to a trusted site. The latter feature has been around since iOS 3.

And unless you have absolutely no security running on your router and your computer no one could get your personal information from your computer.

As for the password sharing Apple did allow iPhone to share passwords on WiFi if not Willy-nilly then I should have the option to turn it off but I don’t. I can’t control all iphones to stop it. So I guess Apple did do it Willy-nilly. As for convenience when it comes to my network I don’t want everyone to connect and use my data that I have limited amount of. The automatic turning on the WiFi on my iphone has just started on a new iPhone XR that I just got, my older phone that had iOS 13.4.3 does not turn on when I turn it off it stays off.

Thanks for your help.

No, they didn't, you get a notice on your iPhone regarding sharing the WiFi, if you decline they cannot use it. That is not willy-nilly. And if the person in question does not know your WiFi name and can't see the SSID then you aren't going to get the request.

Can you explain how your old iPhone had iOS 13.4.3? Or is that a typo?

Apple changed the function of WiFi in the Control Center in iOS 11 so any iPhone that ran iOS 11 had the function change within Control Center. I already stated when the change to automatically joining trusted networks occurred. If your older iPhone was an iPhone 5c or earlier it didn't run iOS 11 so you never had Control Center work like that.
