Clearing trash from USB stick

Under Mojave, is there any way of clearing the trash on a memory stick without also clearing all the trash on the iMac hard drive

Using Disk Utility.app you can always reformat the USB stick to erase all data.

I am wanting to copy a large folder of mp3 files to a USB stick, and did not select quite the correct folder, so deleted it from the stick. When I tried to copy the correct folder the transfer was refused because there was not sufficient capacity remaining empty on the stick. I was told to try About This Mac > Storage. That shows that the stick is indeed nearly full, but offers no way of clearing it.


I am afraid that I not confident enough to follow your advice on using a command in Terminal, without further Help!
