When trying to use the bootcamp utility, on the very first page, I get the message:
Boot Camp Assistant has encountered a problem An internal error has occurred.

This is correctable. See How to fix a split Fusion Drive - Apple Support for reference. There are manual methods to correct it as well.

If you install macOS on both physical drives when they are split, BCA will not support such a configuration.

This is a software issue. 😉
Do you have a Fusion drive in your iMac? If yes, post the output of
diskutil list
from macOS Terminal.
Also, be aware of If you see the alert 'Installation cannot proceed with Boot Camp configured' - Apple Support.
I'm also having the same issue. I have an iMac 27 inch 5k retina late 2017, which used to have a fusion drive originally, but i had the hdd replaced with an ssd hard drive. I'm including a snapshot of the command lines mentioned by Loner T. Hopefully, there someone can offer some advice on how to resolve this.

Yes. I have a drive fusion
But I replaced the original imac hard drive with a 1 terabyte ssd hard drive
I send the output of diskutil
Do you think I should remove the drive fusion from imac?
Till I see the output of
diskutil list
there is no way to decide.
Post the output of
sudo fsck_apfs -n -l /dev/rdisk2
This looks clean. Can you check if you have any local snapshots?
Post the output of
sudo tmutil listlocalsnapshots /
Notice the trailing space followed by "/".
