missed call indicator number

Seems a recent change regarding the missed call indicated number on home screen IPhone 8+

The number remains on the home screen indicating a missed call or voicemail even after the call and or voicemail is cleared. Anyone else experienced this?

Try this way:

Tap Phone icon > tap Recents > tap All/Missed at the top, then exit. When you exit that screen the badge should disappear.
