So I have tried multiple times and ways to update my late 2015 21.5 mac from El Capitan to the newest operating system. I have downloaded and click the restart, however my mac never restarts or finishes the update. The screen doesn't change except for the items on my desktop disappear. I have tried manual update and signed in and out of the app store. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Make sure your Mac is connected to your router using a cable rather than relying on WiFi.
Ensure no other devices are sharing your internet connection while downloading
