This is only an idea - but what region is your Apple ID set to?

I'm using quite a lot of cars and it appears that this problem is mostly connected with Volkswagen group cars with new infotainment (Skoda Octavia, Seat Leon, VW Golf). Every time when I'm connecting with CarPlay, my phone changes the region/language to US/English (I'm from Poland).

Also it happens only when connceting via cable - wireless connection to CarPlay is not affecting my phone. I'm using iP7.

Putting things together, I guess it depends upon the usb connection to the car in combination with "car mode".

I do not have a CarPlay audio system in my car, but I connect the phone only via bluetooth. The only time the problem occurred to me I had connected the phone (while paired to the car via bluetooth, providing music and directions) to an USB port only for charging purposes.

One of the most annoying things is that there is no way to remove apple cash, which appears while the zone is set to US.

iPhone 7 with iOS 13.3.

Has been happening ever since the first iOS13 update and still is happening with the latest. (13.3)

When I connect the iPhone 7 to Apple Carplay every once in a while the phone switches from region The Netherlands to The United States.

It also changes the language from Dutch to English and all other settings that go with the region change.

My carplay radio is a Sony XAV-1AX100 with the latest firmware. (1.02.09)

Since I uninstalled the Shortcuts app, the problem disappeared from my iPhone 7 and also SE.

That page does contain a field for “country/region”?

”The country you selected for your account. It determines some available services and payment methods.”

I’m not sure if that has any effect on your phone region setting, as I mentioned, but it might be worth checking it’s set to Italy if you haven’t already. My guess is it’s the Apple store region.

I’m also having the issue here in the UK. Phone changed from UK to US.

It is deffo linked to CarPlay as mine has only started doing it when I got a new car with CarPlay. Before that no issues at all.

I just can’t pinpoint what with CarPlay causes it.

I dont have the language and region changes and extreme heat anymore since I stopped using Tasks (automatic tasks) in iOS.

It’s of course not the solution of the bug but it reduces the annoying changes.

I've been getting this too in the UK- was happening twice a week at least (I used CarPlay every day for my commute) - I’d get the US region settings- 12 hour clock and maps talking about feet etc...

it’s been happening since iOS 12 last year - I haven’t tested for a month (for obvious reasons) but I think the absence of a region change when I haven’t used CarPlay shows it’s connected

(iPhone 6s plus now on 13.4.1 - VW Touran)

Another quick question - do you have an Apple Watch, and what region does the Apple Watch app on your iphone say about region if you do? It’s also under general settings.

Same issue, happened twice the past week. iPhone 7 - iOS13

Language changes from Dutch to English, region changes from Netherlands to USA.

It happened two times after disconnecting from Carplay.

The phone is always very hot after disconnecting and functions very slow.

I have less issues, less heat, less slow operation, no language-region changes anymore since i disabled the auto-tasks. It is of course not the right solution, but temporary.

I am surprised no person of Apple is asking questions here of giving comments. It seem they don't care.

I have the same problem in The Netherlands , also on iPhone 7 - when connecting to CarPlay, via USB, suddenly the region and language changes to USA/English and iPhone gets really hot.

it happens mostly after Spotify is stuttering or doesn’t give Sound at all. But it seems unplugging the usb cable from the CarPlay will trigger the same problem.
